The car would be driven using the generated power, which would be stored in the storage system. Hybrid electric vehicles, or HEVs, are this new class of vehicle.

Stacks of lead acid batteries are used as the storage system in hybrid electric vehicles nowadays because they may be charged simultaneously with the load. The generating system comprises of an internal combustion engine-powered electric generator.
